OPNsense®

OPNSense is a FreeBSD-based firewall solution designed for environments ranging from small offices to enterprise-level networks. Originating from the pfSense® and m0n0wall projects in 2014, OPNSense had its first official release in January 2015. It has since rapidly evolved while maintaining the familiar features of its predecessors.

As a robust firewall appliance, OPNSense prioritizes security and provides advanced traffic control through easily configurable firewall rules. The project is committed to security, offering weekly updates to address emerging threats promptly. Additionally, OPNSense follows a fixed release cycle, delivering two major updates each year, allowing businesses to strategically plan their upgrades.

Each major release is guided by a comprehensive roadmap, outlining development goals and ensuring clear direction for future enhancements. Furthermore, all systems come pre-installed with Sensei, an advanced network security tool, enhancing the overall security capabilities of the OPNSense platform.
